DOOM Eternal Review

DOOM Eternal is a title that needs little introduction but deserves a lot of praise. Here, Slayers will feel right at home jumping, dashing, smashing, blasting, and of course exploding through the legions of Hell. While DOOM Eternal does focus more on story than the previous 2016 installment, it feels and operates on a much higher frequency of fun.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War Review

While fans of the series will feel right at home in their foxholes, scoping in on the shambling formations of the undead, the title lacks some much needed variation in gameplay.

Remnant: From the Ashes Review

Leaping, looting, lacerating, and laughing, Remnant: From The Ashes explodes with character, violence, and a down-right great time in co-op. The procedural generation of the missions presents players with surprises and challenges each time they boot up the title. With its roots in Dark Souls-like gameplay, this is sure to be a powerful title to land in 2019.

Mortal Kombat 11 Review

A refreshing addition to the series, with beautiful graphics and excellent combat, yet plagued with microtransactions that force you to choose between grinding or paying, as well as lackluster RNG systems.

World War Z Review

A fun and refreshing take on the zombie fighting co-op experience that is hindered by network lag and unimpressive AI.

Genesis: Alpha One Preview

Genesis Alpha One is downright fun. I have found myself in awe each time I’ve booted the title up and begun my journey through the beautiful and despair-filled Alpha Quadrant. Each planet, enemy, and ship module feels unique and intimidating. Towards the end of this review, I will talk about some improvements I would like to see in this title, but keep in mind this titleis in Early Access until early 2020.

Second Look: The Long Dark

The Long Dark inspires a different, more primal kind of fear than a lot of other survival entries. Bye-bye zombies, hello hypothermia.

Jagged Alliance: Rage! Review

While fans of turn-based strategy might find some features to be enjoyable, long-time players of the Jagged Alliance series and strategy connoisseurs might feel shortchanged of the beloved gameplay of this genre.

From the seas comes the undead hordes of the Vampire Coast. Prepare yourself to either resist or bring the terrors of the oceans ashore as the sea-faring zombie pirates. From shambling musket-wielding warriors to shipwrecks reanimated into towering artillery pieces, you are sure to get your fix of piracy and destruction.

OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Review

Zombie smashing, blasting, and hacking has always been a gamer favorite across all platforms. OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead sadly did not hit the nail on the head, here. While good ideas and systems are present, the overwhelming bugs and poorly done multiplayer system truly grinds this title to a halt.

Space Hulk: Tactics Review

Space Hulk: Tactics will force you to be technically and tactically proficient in every match.  An economy of motion and combat will prove to be the utmost challenge for new and seasoned players alike. Thought this title contains a few bugs, by no means is it a deal breaker. Fans of Space Hulk and Warhammer 40k alike should find themselves fully at home in the fresh take on the series. Be warned that you will need to invest a lot of time into each match, as the gameplay loop itself is fairly slow. Each win you can truly feel and each loss hits you right in the gut. “In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, there is only war.

World War 3 Early Access Review

World War 3 had a rocky launch and will hopefully be fully redeemed by the development staff. The gameplay combined with the deep customization really does complete a modern military shooter dream. This title offers players the ability to be in full control of their gear and character, all while being fun. While this title is in the infant stages of Early Access, it shows great promise to be a fantastic experience in the long run. While map variation and different weapon choices and game modes seem to be limited as of now, I am sure we will see more and more content added in the future. Godspeed, The Farm 51.

With new content, sounds, and Steam Workshop support, fans of Pillars of Eternity II will no doubt enjoy the new layers of challenge this DLC provides.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Review

While this gritty, gory, fast-paced title is worth your time, it’s not necessarily worth its asking price.

INSOMNIA: The Ark Review

Too buggy to currently be considered playable, INSOMNIA: The Ark could eventually be an enjoyable experience in a cool, dieselpunk-futuristic world.

Building, creating, destroying, self-detonating, designing, and restarting. Nimbatus is an Early Access space-drone design simulator that’s fulfilling to anyone who has a brain for engineering or adventurous curiosity. To put it lightly, my experience with Nimbatus has been one for the books of failure, and has required me to watch countless tutorial videos on how to make a drone that can even be stable enough to maneuver a planet surface. Having said that, my enjoyment in watching my failed little creations of destruction is great enough that I won’t be stopping anytime soon.

Hands-On: OVERKILL's The Walking Dead

From the developers of PayDay 2 comes the zombie-smashing, bandit-blasting, loot-scavenging, 4-player co-op title, OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead (OTWD). While this title is set to release on November 6th, the beta weekends have begun and testing is well underway for the pre-order masses. Bugs are plentiful and “clunkiness” is fairly rampant, but that’s what betas are for, right?

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Review

Despite some frame-rate stutters, slight audio-visual desyncs, and the occasional bad texture rendering, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is eerie, challenging, thoughtful, compelling, and downright fun.

PLANET ALPHA Review

Breathtakingly beautiful, but short and without much variety, means that you’ll probably really have to love side-scrollers to fully enjoy Planet Alpha.

Immortal: Unchained Review

Immortal: Unchained pushes you into a hardcore RPG universe full of magazine-fed weapons and ancient battle axes, but doesn’t quite hit the target with its rough edges and choppy AI.

Door Kickers: Action Squad Review

Side-scrolling, door-booting, and criminal-annihilating, Door Kickers: Action Squad is sure to fill the “I haven’t blown anything up today” hole that is burning through your chest. With couch and online co-op, you and your partner can blast through terrorist-filled house after drug-lord-filled house together. Just don’t expect anything deeper than east to west shooting.

SCUM Early Access Review

Scum is a fresh, deep, immersive, and enjoyable survival title. Prepare to fight, loot, and scavenge, and even satisfy the human body's most basic needs. Your time in Scum will not be dull, but you may desync from the servers or find some teleporting lag warriors around the airfield.

Insurgency: Sandstorm Preview

Fast-paced, tactical, unforgiving and downright fun. Insurgency: Sandstorm is an upcoming first- person shooter being developed by New World Interactive, the company behind the original Insurgency, as well as Day of Infamy (both of which boast Very Positive overall review ratings on Steam). Sandstorm was announced back in February of 2016, but didn’t really gain traction or too much hype until about mid-2018. With the pre-order beta going live in early August, I leapt at the chance to try out a sequel to one of my favorite shooters. After about four days of gameplay, I can’t think of a more fun first-person shooter that has released this year.
