F1 2016, the official videogame of the FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, introduces a new way of online play with the inclusion of 22 player online racing. Codemasters and Koch Media released the video yesterday, highlighting this feature as well as the Formation Lap and manual starts.

Principal Games Designer, Lee Mather, talked about the decision to include the 22 player online racing. He said,

“We want to be able to fill the whole grid with human players to create those great race moments and stories. It also provides greater support for online leagues.”

The new game trailer also shows of in-game footage of all sorts of events from the garage to the track. For a racing game that releases annually, the graphics and physics look better than ever before. And with the addition of the Formation Lap and manual start, F1 2016 looks to be the most technical version in the series. Players’ skills will be tested as they show their reaction skills similar to racers in real life. Be careful to avoid jump starting too early!

When asked about these nuances in F1 2016, Mather remarked, “We strive to create a game that is close to the actual sport as possible. We have listened to the feedback from our community and that has resulted in us introducing… features that get us even closer to the real sport and add to the experience for the players.”

Along with an expanded multiplayer experience, players will get the chance to create their own legend in F1 2016’s Career Mode. The mode extends to ten seasons of intense racing, with drama on and off the track. The Limited Edition version includes a DLC pack that lets players start farther into the campaign.

The next addition in the F1 game franchise releases worldwide on August 19th for Windows PC.
