MISSION RESTAURANT

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! brings a great storyline. Set in 2042, you find yourself immersed in an American dystopian future. Following the events of Cook, Serve Delicious! 2!!, you've been fighting for your life in the middle of a war zone. When everything is lost and you feel like you can't go on, there's Whisk and Cleaver (your android friends) with a food truck to keep you going. You begin small, with a couple of short recipes. It's just a simple clicking playstyle (like the previous games), and all completely manageable. Of course, if you have slow-moving fingers, that's going to affect your success. The gameplay is very manageable, especially with the quick-serve option you unlock during the tutorial, and it provides level after level of keypunching.

CHANGES LEAD TO HAPPINESS

There are some advantages to now running a food truck instead of a restaurant. There are no longer chores that need to be done, making the whole thing easier. As previously mentioned, you can press a key and one of the androids will serve all completed orders, allowing you extra time on the dishes you need to make. There's also a "chill" mode, which slows the game down, and, new to the series, is a "zen" mode. The new gameplay mode is not as fast-paced as regular gameplay or even the "chill" mode. It's a nice relaxing experience.

GET TO THE POINT

Everything leads to one giant competition: The Iron Cook National Foodtruck Championships. You need to upgrade your truck on the road to Nashville, Tennessee (America's new capital), choose progressively more difficult recipes, and keep up with the "serve" part of this game. You've been playing for hours and it's time to complete the training you've had and win the championships to prove you are still the best chef in the world.

MORE FUN WITH A FRIEND

Feeling isolated within the game? Not enjoying the company of only robots? There is a solution for that! With local co-op, you can play with your friends. Let me tell you, bring a friend if you're not a strong typer. The gameplay feels like it rushes by (although there are many levels, so it's very fun) and it helps to have more than one person working on the orders. The best thing is that the title allows co-op drop-in/drop-out modes so you can have a friend jump in when you're having a problem and fall out when you're back to what you can handle.

The Verdict: Excellent

This is definitely a game to purchase! Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! is worth the time, effort, and money you put into it. Let's be honest, for its price you get a ton of gameplay, and since you can complete levels up to gold medals, you'll spend hours trying to improve your score (without the game frustrating you as some other simulation titles do). Zen mode is perfect for when you want to play something non-stressful and just relax with it. This, hands down, is one of the greatest simulation games I've played this year!
