Everhart - Knights of the Road Update

Written by

Reto-Moto’s popular WWII MMOFPS Heroes & Generals is letting players drive classic WWII trucks in their latest update: Everhart - Knights of the Road.

This update will add Infantry trucks for all three of the playable factions. The US will get the CCKW Cargo Truck, also known as ‘Jimmy’ or ‘Deuce and a half’ within the US Army. The Germans will get the classic Blitz Truck, 130,000 of which were produced before the German factory producing them was bombed. The Soviets will get the GAZ AAA Cargo, which Soviet engineers loosely based off of trucks purchased in the early 1930’s from the Americans. Each of these trucks can hold nine soldiers and a driver, as well as two supply crates, and they enable players to quickly transport soldiers between control points. Players will get access to trucks early on in player progression, allowing even new players to become valuable squad members.

Jacob Andersen, Game Director at Reto-Moto, points out how the trucks can provide a clever and useful tactical advantage:

“Since the vehicle to a great extent is covered by truck tarp the enemy will not know your numbers, which can give you a great advantage and the opportunity to bluff.”

The update also has some seemingly small but significant changes. These include camera tweaks, such as better spawn and kill cam, and better camera transition and alignment when entering and exiting vehicles. Also included are recoil adjustments, tightening the gunplay for mounted and hand-held weapons. The update will also add new camouflage uniforms for Soviets. They’re called Palma Amoeba and come in Fall, Mountain, and Summer variants. These uniforms will be available for Infantry, Recon, and Paratroopers.

The update gets its name from American soldier Forrest Eugene Everhart, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for leading his platoon in defending against the counterattack of a numerically superior German force in 1944.

The game merges FPS action with strategy in an ongoing war among thousands of online players. Currently in open beta, Heroes & Generals has over 7 million players and is available for PC on Steam and through the browser.
