As of this writing, Abatron is up on Kickstarter and has a free demo available on Steam, so get out there and check it out, this reviewer thinks you won't be disappointed.

Squad 22 needs some more features, polish, and originality for it to become a classic within the popular RTS genre.

Alas, Meridian: Squad 22 just falls way short of the mark. There are too many design issues, too many miscalculations, to make this worth buying. Perhaps if it wasn’t just “one guy” it would be different, but it’s not.
