Dead in Vinland is a seamless genre-melding of resource management and RPG elements. Visually dazzling and complete with a delightful cast of characters, it’s the latest installment of what could be a successful franchise.
With many weapons, unlocks, and even co-op play, The Walking Vegetables has a high chance you will replay it over, and over... and over. It’s a great game all-around, especially if you are interested in a cheap alternative to therapy because your mom forced you to eat her vegetable casserole, even though you told her you hated carrots. The Walking Vegetables takes the best aspects of any top-down shooter, and gives it the 80s-cocaine-treatment that it needed.
The Disney Afternoon Collection is well polished, and a solid collection piece. Each title is ported over well, with tight controls and fluid responsiveness, but there’s also plenty of extra features to enhance gameplay. For those who have been interested in playing any of the titles included or want to replay them on a newer system, this is a strong choice for you.
River City Ransom: Underground is fantastic in how it truly captures the feel of retro games, and it’s clear from the experience that Conatus Creative provides the desire and requisite talent. On top of the original beat-em-up feel, additional features round out the title quite nicely, such as RPG leveling aspects and a fighting engine that packs a punch.
Creepy Castle feels like it’s complete and was handled with love. It hit all the right notes with me: quirky but meaningful plot and characters, elegant retro art and sound, and simple but engaging exploration and combat.
BUTCHER is a polished, extremely well-built 2D shooter that wears its difficulty on its sleeve. It's an absolute blast to play, but players may find difficulty adjusting to the incredible challenges that await them. If you have the patience to withstand this level of gameplay, you’ll be prepared to feel the rush of adrenaline when completing one of BUTCHER’s insanely hard levels. It isn't Dark Soulism, or Hotline Miamian excellence, but it comes darn close. The game looks great and plays great, and I most def recommend it to anyone looking for some brutal, arcade action.
There’s certainly a lot of work that could be done to spruce The Garden up further, like a graphics overall and some more compelling sound effects, but it’s not a bad little game to tinker around with when you want something fairly low-key and casual. I only had one incident where the program crashed, but I that indicates there could be a risk for ongoing bugs and glitches, so please consider this a cautionary recommendation heavy on the quantifiers.
Dungeon Rushers is a ton of fun to play. The tactical battles, the plundering of dungeons for loot galore and goofy dialogue all add to the pleasure of playing the game. In addition, the easy to use dungeon creation tools with a multiplayer ranking system mean that players will continue to create and modify an elaborate assortment of dungeons for you to explore, loot and plunder.
Worms W.M.D has ruined my week. Responsibilities like mowing the lawn, getting some reports done for work, and you know, writing this review. But all of those were late. Why? Well, I suppose the reason is a very good one… I could not stop playing it.
Rouge Contracts: Syndicate is a phenomenally well put together title, that will have you wondering where that dent in the wall came from. For 8 bucks, it provides a challenging and rewarding experience that frustrates as much as it entertains. In sum, if at a first glance this looks at all entertaining to you, know that it will be well worth the modest investment.
Brainseed Factory has put a lot of spit and polish into Typoman, (sadly) leaving this critic with almost nothing to complain about.
I absolutely cannot recommend the Lucius Demake highly enough, for anyone who enjoys macabre storylines, a riveting, intriguing Point-&-Click adventure, or even just for fans of the original two Lucius titles.
A great game and a must-have for any fan of the Mega Man series who wants to try something new. It does have its hiccups, mainly its story and lack of customization, but with its graphics, sound, and gameplay, it’s clear that the developers put their hearts into it.
Tight, responsive controls, an addictive, high energy chiptune soundtrack, and a visually vibrant and attractive art style all culminate in one of the hardest platformers I’ve played this year.
D.N. Age is a tough one to recommend, but for an RPG fan who is looking for a casual experience or is interested in the DNA merging feature which is the cornerstone of this title, check this one out. One may be underwhelmed by the inability to explore and the similarities between this and browser or mobile "freemium" titles, which hopefully the DNA merging will help make up for.
Demetrios is a full-length adventure game packed with silly humor. 8 to 12 hours of fun!
Rescue exotic space animals from a corrupt AI in Dr. Spacezoo, a chaotic twin-stick precision shoot-em-up for 1-4 players. Or reduce them to gibs. Your call, monster.
